Fire suppression system for Storage and archives

For economic reasons, spatial optimisation is a priority in warehouses, which is why automatic storage systems and storage lifts are often used. However, these pose particular challenges in terms of fire protection, as they are inaccessible to people and often reach enormous heights, which makes fire detection considerably more difficult.

In archives, the value of stored items is often measured not by their material value, but by their uniqueness. Once destroyed, files or props are irretrievably lost. Fire protection measures are therefore often limited to organisational fire protection, as many solutions cause damage similar to that caused by fire itself. Nevertheless, there are always cases of fires in archives where malfunctions of, for example, lighting systems or surrounding technical equipment cause enormous damage.

Automatic extinguishing systems are ideal for optimum fire protection in warehouses, storage systems and archives. However, the problem for warehouse and archive operators is often that conventional sprinkler systems would cause considerable damage if triggered, and gas extinguishing systems entail enormous maintenance costs.

A better option is to use aerosol fire suppression systems, which cause no damage to the warehouse or stored goods and require very little maintenance compared to other technologies.

Function of aerosol fire suppression systems

When a fire suppression system is triggered, the entire warehouse is flooded with a potassium aerosol, which interrupts the chain reaction of fire and extinguishes it within seconds. The extinguishing systems can be used with any fire alarm system or as a stand-alone system. Since the Stat-X extinguishing agent is stored unpressurised in the extinguishing generator, no cylinder rooms, piping or pressure measuring systems are required. Maintenance and servicing costs are significantly lower compared to sprinkler or gas extinguishing systems.
